SkyNet
Description
SkyNet is a tunnel end-point to the RIT VMS Cluster. Since this system receives much less traffic than RIT’s systems, all clients are able to be queued. This means that you stand a better chance of getting access to S.I.S and registering for your courses. Clients connect to a SkyNet server instead of connecting to the RIT VAX. Connections are queued and served based on the order in which they were received. When a “slot” becomes free, you will automatically be bridged to the Student Information System.
See the design diagram for the details.
How to Use this Service
This project has been deprecated. There are a few ways to use this service. It is recommended that Windows users download the secure client (linked below). You can also connect via Telnet or a similar terminal emulator. The system is typically open by 5:45 AM on registration morning. Please note that access to this service is limited to the campus intranet only.
